WHITE RIVER – More than 60 pastors graduated from the country’s oldest interdenominational school of theology, Phumelela Bible College over the past weekend.
Hundreds of church members from different denominations in the country and other African countries including Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Mozambique, Burundi and Uganda, attended.
This year’s graduation saw 15 pastors receiving their one-year certificate in ministerial theology, 17 receiving their licentiate in ministerial theology after studying with the college’s evening school for three years, and the rest obtaining their three-year certificates.
The college rector, Past Sthembiso Nkosi called on the pastors to go out and diligently put their theory into practice and bring much-needed solutions to the world.
“We believe this group will turn the world upside down with the word of God. We release you from the ministry to work. Go out there and do our Father’s job. Stay in the word and say no to gimmicks,” he said.
He added that the pastors were now fully equipped to preach the gospel and even qualified to open their own churches. Bishop Hamilton Sibeko urged the pastors to never depart from God’s word and promises regardless of any challenges.
“Despite challenges that you might meet you have no right to depart from Jesus. I’ve never seen anyone departing from Christ and becoming better,” he said.
He reminded the pastors that they have been called by God for his work and hence have to trust and believe in Him at all times.
Words of gratitude were also expressed to KaMagugu Alliance Church for sponsoring the event. Enrolment for the 2016 is still open and will close end of January. Application forms are also obtainable from the college office
or website www.pbcth.co.za.
