Seventy five people have been rescued out of Lily Mine which collapsed this morning

LOW’S CREEK – Seventy five people have been rescued out of Lily Mine which collapsed this morning trapping more than 125 miners underground.

According to Mpumalanga News reporter, Bonisile Khoza who is at the scene, community members are losing their nerves waiting outside the mine, praying for their loved ones to come out alive.

The rescued miners have been rushed to the hospital. The Operations Director, Mr Mike Begg, has reportedly expressed concern over three people who are still trapped at the lamp.

It is unclear at this stage whether it was a shaft that caved in, or a rock fall.The gold mine is situated between Barberton and Kaapmuiden.
