Donating blood is cool

The SANBS supplies 15 hospitals in the area, amounting to more than 2 000 units of blood.

The South African National Blood Services (SANBS) visited Lowveld Media’s offices today.
With the organisation’s aim to raise awareness on the importance of donating blood, the SANBS has expanded to schools in the prime areas of the Lowveld.
Public Relations Officer, Ms Wuhanita Parkes commends the younger generation for supporting the initiative. “In all the schools we have gone to, youngsters are always willing to come forward and they are committed. However, the challenge is the lack of knowledge and the fear in communities.”

Donor, Ms Jenni Semmens from Lowveld Get it has been donating from the age of 16.

“My father always took me along with him and that is when I became a donor, I have never stopped. I encourage my children to do the same and everyone else. Do the right thing and save lives.”
