KABOKWENI – Roads were closed with burning tires and debris due to struggles with water services.
“We have been without water for days. I haven’t been bathing nor flushing in my house for days now.
Every time after the smallest rainfall we are left without water and municipal representatives usually tell us that sand had blocked water pipes. We know that is not true,” says angry resident, Mr Themba Hlatshwayo.
Locals also accused water-truck employees of fraudulently selling water. Comment from the City of Mbombela Municipality was not received at the time of press.
KaBokweni police say no criminal cases were recorded. “The police are all over watching the place to ensure peace and stability,” says Capt Shirley Ngomane, police spokesperson. She says the entrance to and from this town was now opened.
