WATCH: Finance workers department picket

The purpose of the picket was to oppose the transfer of Deputy Director of Supply Chain in the health department, Carol Malungu to the finance department.

MBOMBELA – The Mpumalanga Finance Department employees embarked on a picketing from last Friday and on Monday, February at Riverside Government Complex. The protest was against the transfer of an employee from the department of health to them, despite a moratorium on jobs in the provincial government.

The purpose of the picket was to oppose the transfer of Deputy Director of Supply Chain in the health department, Carol Malungu to the finance department.
The employees were addressed by Nehawu’s deputy chairperson, Thembi Twala, chairperson Ntsiki Gabela and branch member Mabel Ntabane who said they will make it their business to demonstrate every day at 13.00 until the head of the department for finance responds to their demands.

According to a communique presented by the aggrieved parties, she was informed about the transfer while she was in Mozambique for a holiday last year. The employees vowed to picket every day at 13.00 until they receive answers.
