
After two years of the trial in process, the accused, Mr Martin Botha and Mr James Shilenge were found guilty whereas Mr Mito Mapolange was acquitted of all charges against him.
“We would like to applaud our colleagues for working together with the SAPS during this investigation. This incident is amongst many that our rangers come in contact with in our protected areas. We commend the work that has gone into finalizing this case”, said Mr Abe Sibiya, Acting CEO of Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA).

“Poaching is still on the rise in South Africa and as MTPA we continue with our anti-poaching efforts to curb this. This arrest is one amongst many that have taken place and we will continue to fight this battle”, added Sibiya.
The two that was found guilty will be sentenced on March 17 at Mkobola court.
