McCain South Africa helps clothe children

The R50 000 donation from McCain South Africa will go towards providing 100 children, from four different schools in the area, with winter jerseys, socks and shoes.

McCain South Africa has recently partnered with the Ebuhleni Foundation in Delmas, by donating R50 000 in support of the Helping Hand initiative.

This initiative aims to provide winter school uniforms for children in the area who would otherwise miss days of school because they do not have warm clothes.

The Helping Hand initiative began in 2012 and was born out of the compassion for the underprivileged children in the Delmas area who often go to school in winter without jerseys, socks and shoes. Delmas is known for its cold winters and as a result, many of these children end up missing school because they don’t have clothes or shoes to keep them warm. To date, the initiative has helped to provide more than 320 children with these winter essentials.

“We at McCain are incredibly proud to be part of the Helping Hand initiative this year. The McCain team, at the Delmas Plant, shared this initiative with head office and really wanted to support the great work being done to help the community, so we knew that we needed to find a way to lend our support this worthy cause. The thought that children are missing school because they may not have a jersey, socks and shoes really touched us and we are glad that we can make a small difference to these children’s lives,” says Deolinda Da Costa, Marketing Manager at McCain South Africa.

McCain South Africa is proud to support such a worthy cause and would like to extend its gratitude to the Ebuhleni Foundation for all the hard work that they do in the Delmas area.
