Social media reacts to Zuma no confidence vote

The president needs 199 votes or more to retain power

National Assembly speaker Baleka Mbete, on Monday granted the secret ballot regarding the debate on a motion of no confidence in President Jacob Zuma.

Today‚ members of the National Assembly will for the first time cast a vote by secret ballot on a motion of no confidence against a sitting president. The president needs 199 votes or more to retain power. If the secret ballot sees enough ANC MPs defecting and voting with the opposition against Zuma, Mbete will end up as acting president.

She will have to appoint a new Cabinet because Zuma’s ministers and deputy ministers will also have to resign.
