Basadi operation yields fruitful results

Tonga – As part of celebrating Women’s Month, the women in blue from the local police station have started Basadi Operations, which has yielded positive results when it comes to uprooting crime in the area and surroundings.

The operation, run by Capt Delisile Magagula, has led to the arrest of about 17 people with various counts, including failure to comply with the Road Traffic Act, and for possession of dagga.

The women in blue uniforms successfully captured a suspect who tried to flee with a bag of dagga at a roadblock in Magudu.
The officers chased him to an unknown house where the door had been left open.

It is alleged that the suspect locked himself inside, as the owners of the house where not there at the time.
The suspect was later arrested. The station commander Brig Velisiwe Mdaka applauded her members for a job well done. She added that they have proven that “Wathinta abafazi, wathinta imbokodo”.
