Family, educators, former students and learners gathered for the memorial service of Dr Simon Mkhatshwa at Cefups Academy, Nghunghunyane hall in Mbombela on Thursday.

He died in the early hours of September 12, 2017.
Mkhatshwa made headlines in the past for his school applying corporal punishment in 2014.

The funeral will take place on Saturday in Chweni Trust at 07:00-09:00.
