Duo to appear for murder and other crimes

Two men aged 23 and 31, are due to appear before the Ogies Magistrate’s Court today after they were arrested on charges of murder, attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

NELSPRUIT – The arrest of the suspects comes after the police in Phola near Ogies, received a report of a shooting incident that took place at Blesbokfontein Road near Phola.

They then rushed to the scene and upon arrival, they found two men lying on the ground and one died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds, whilst the other was rushed to hospital having sustained a gunshot wound.

Police then instituted the 72 Hour Activation Plan wherein relevant resources were deployed and the members followed all possible leads until they managed to arrest the suspects shortly after the incident. During the arrest, the suspects were found in possession of the firearm believed to be the murder weapon.

The Provincial Commissioner of the police in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Mondli Zuma condemns the act of people taking the law into their own hands. He urges the community to work with the police at all times.
