N4 head-on collision claims two lives near Alkmaar

A head-on collision between a BMW and a Toyota Conquest sedan has claimed the lives of two people on the N4 Toll road at Alkmaar near Mbombela around 14h50 today.

The two deceased were occupants in the sedan.

One child who was a passenger in the sedan, sustained critical injuries. The two occupants from the SUV were seriously injured. All the injured people were stabilised on the scene before they were rushed to nearby hospitals in Mbombela.

It is believed that the SUV was travelling to Johannesburg while the sedan was Mbombela bound.

The cause of the crash is still unknown and the investigation is underway.

Mpumalanga Community Safety Security and Liaison MEC Pat Ngomane warned the motorists to use the road with great caution amid the rising number of deadly crashes.

He urged members of the public to be calm when on the road and also obey the rules of the road to avoid unneccesary loss of lives.

” We all need to play our part in curbing these crashes that leave many families devastated,” the MEC said.
