Five family members tragically killed Elukwatini to be buried on Sunday

MEC for community safety, security and liaison, Gabisile Shabalala and her entourage from the department paid a visit to the family to offer condolences and support this morning

A 53-year-old man, three members of his family and a cousin who were tragically killed in a head-on collision will be buried at Elukwatini this coming Sunday.

Their funeral will be held at Elukwatini Community Hall from 07:00.

Enoch Fana Shiba of Nhlazatshe Section 5, his wife Thandi Nkosi (43), their children Lungelo (4), Amahle (2) and their cousin Sesi Eunice Masina (37) of Aramburg were killed in a head-on collision on the D481 road near Elukwatini Complex. The couple’s six-year-old daughter was injured and admitted to Kiaat Hospital.

It is alleged that the driver of a bakkie coming from the direction of Embhuleni lost control of his vehicle and collided with the Shibas’ vehicle, coming from the opposite direction.

Shabalala called for more support to be given to the affected family, saying losing one family member is painful and losing several relatives in one incident is too much for any family to deal with.

“This tragedy and many others should propel all of us to become real ambassadors of road safety. This, road users should do by using the road safely, obeying the rules and reporting any reckless driving that they see,” she concludes. The police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
