Muslim community donates 2 800 food parcels

A total of 2 800 food parcels from the Islamic Relief organization, were delivered to add to the ever growing food donations at the food bank which operates under the auspices of the provincial department of social development.

ROCKY’S DRIFT – The Muslim community today made a worthy contribution to the Provincial Food Bank to feed hungry communities throughout the province.

She said: “As the Department of Social Development, we are grateful to the Islamic community for this kind gesture which incidentally comes at a time when they are observing Ramadan Month. We are blessed as a province that this comes at a time when our communities are in dire need of it because of the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

“In the same breath, we are appealing to the private sector, church organizations, non-profit organizations and individuals to assist the department in our quest to feed those who need food from government.

“We accept food donations from all sectors and from all church groups which has come in handy during this time of need. We heartily say thank you to all. At this rate, we are confident that we will succeed in enabling to provide our people with healthy food that will strengthen their immune systems to withstand any attacks from the coronavirus,” she ended.
