Help clothe the needy with #ClosetCleanUp

Matsulu Chillas Cona is on a mission to help clothe the needy during these difficult times.

Chillas Cona, the fastest-growing chillas pozi in the Lowveld, officially launched the Closet Clean-Up Charity Drive on Sunday which received overwhelming support from the community.

This campaign is aimed at encouraging ordinary citizens to donate any clothing items that they no longer use.

“As part of giving back to the community of Matsulu and surroundings, we came up with this campaign in which clothing items and other necessities will be collected and donated to needy children, women and men who have been identified,” said the charity drive’s spokesperson, Terrence Siphunzi.

“There are many child-headed homes in this community which struggle to make ends meet. For some of them, owning decent clothing is a luxury. We as Matsulu Chillas Cona thought it would be a good idea to make a difference by restoring a sense of dignity to those in need,” he continued.

The public is encouraged to donate towards this cause by dropping items off at Chillas Cona. In addition to the charity drive, a Heritage Day celebration will be hosted on September 24 at Chillas Cona in which those identified families will take part in a “free shopping spree” by choosing from the donated items available.

“We call on residents, our patrons and people from other areas to raid their closets and be a part of this initiative. Clothing of all sizes is welcome and any item will be appreciated. We may not be able to do much, but the #ClosetCleanUp will help to make a difference for those who cannot afford to buy clothes,” concluded Siphunzi.
