Premier Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane announces class of 2021 results
21 044 grade 12 candidates obtained bachelor passes.

Premier Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane announced the Mpumalanga 2021 grade 12 National Senior Certificate examination results. This annual event was held on Friday January 21 at the University of Mpumalanga.
The province recorded a 73,6% overall pass rate. “It is encouraging to note that since 2012, the province has not reported an overall pass rate below 70%.”
The overall best 2021 matric learner in the province was Kgothatso Angela Gugu Mphaka from KwaMhlanga Secondary School. She received a brand- new car. In her speech the premier announced the best district and municipality. Ehlanzeni District recorded the highest pass rate by registering 75,6%, compared to 74,5% in 2020.

“This constitutes a 1,1% improvement. It is the only district that performed above the provincial average. This district also registered the highest number of candidates for the National Senior Certificate examinations in the province with 19 173 candidates,” she explained.

“Bohlabela recorded 74,2%, compared with 74,6% for 2020. This is a decline of 0,4%. The districts of Nkangala and Gert Sibande both obtained a 72,2% pass rate.” Steve Tshwete Local Municipality recorded a pass rate that surpassed all the 17 local municipalities within the province. “They recorded an 82,2% pass rate.”
