Mpumalanga EFF mourns loss of four members killed in car crash

The EFF members were on their way from organisational duties, preparing for the by-elections, when they met their untimely deaths.

The Mpumalanga EFF leader, Collen Sedibe, paid homage to four party members who had lost their lives in a car crash on Monday May 23.

These are Lucy and Johannes Mashamaite, Bella Andronica Malete, the former Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality councillor, and Nozulu Matshika.

According to Sedibe, the four fighters, as they are fondly referred to, were coming from official organisational work when they met their untimely deaths.

“We are saddened by the death of our four members. We pray that their families find strength during this difficult time,” said Sedibe.
He wished another Mashamaite sibling well.

“We would like to wish fighter Jane Mashamaite a speedy recovery. We would also like to assure her family that the EFF will do all that is humanly possible to ensure that she gets the best possible medical care during this difficult period,” continued Sedibe.

He urged party members and supporters to honour the deceased by recruiting more members within the ranks of the EFF.

“Let us honour them by ensuring that the EFF attains its one million membership target by the end of this year. Let us go all out and recruit as many people as we can. These members, young as they were, served this organisation and our masses with distinction and we shall not dare rest until we have achieved total emancipation for all,” Sedibe added.

The party’s general secretary, Marshall Dlamini, has sent condolences to the families of the late members on behalf of the central command team.

“It is with deep sense of grief and sadness to have lost our fighters in the manner we did. These fighters died serving the organisation and our masses and therefore deserve to be honoured and their spirit remembered, always. We send our heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and all the fighters who served alongside fighters Malete, the Mashamaites and Matshika,” said Dlamini.

The members will be laid to rest on Saturday.
