SamSam aims to retain his title at the next Red Bull Shay’ iMoto instalment
With SamSam behind the wheel, Mpumalanga will be well-represented during the enthralling Red Bull Shay' iMoto competition.
Samkeliso “SamSam” Thubane (24) is no stranger to the Red Bull Shay’ iMoto competition.
As a matter of fact, SamSam will be defending his 2021 crown during the fourth instalment of this year’s championship on September 3, in front of a live audience at Wheelz n Smoke Arena.
With SamSam behind the steering wheel, Mpumalanga will be well represented during the thrilling Red Bull Shay’ iMoto season that features South Africa’s top 12 spinners competing against one another.
The top two from the previous year, SamSam, the current champion, and Chadwin “Boksie” Hadjie, the runner-up, are both among the top 12.
Four champions from the regional qualifiers earlier this year and six drivers from the video entries, join them.

SamSam, who previously won the championship at So You Think You Can Spin and won the 2021 Red Bull Shay’ iMoto competition, will bring more fire to defend his title.
“I have matured as a person and improved my motorsport abilities even more. Everyone will bring their A game to the competition, so it will be different and challenging. Of course, I will be there doing miracles to maintain my title and ensure the continuation of my reign,” said SamSam.
“I believe that if you enjoy what you do, it is most certain that you will do well. I will focus on winning and at the same time, enjoy the competition and not put pressure on myself, because when I enjoy something, I perform better.
“I look forward to competing against some of the greatest car spinners in the country. Hopefully, I will be able to leave a mark like I have been doing all these years and make my fans proud,” he said.

“Every time the audience applauds me, it motivates me to do better. Being the previous champion has taught me that anything I put my mind to, can be accomplished. I want to thank everyone for their support during this journey, and I promise that whether I win or lose, I will be happy that I had entered this competition and pleased my fans.”
