A child was one of four people killed when the vehicle they were travelling in collided with an articulated truck just outside Mbombela on Sunday night, January 8.

Mpumalanga’s Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison’s spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi, said the collision had occurred on the N4 just before midnight.

He said all four occupants of the light motor vehicle had died on impact.

Mmusi said the Jaws of Life had to be used to remove the deceased.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Mmusi has called upon motorists to obey the rules of the road and to stop and rest whenever they need.
