Investigations into the accident are ongoing.

Divergent Emergency Medical Services attended the accident scene.

“We can confirm that we attended to the scene where a man was struck by a vehicle coming from Riverside towards the City of Mbombela at around midday,” Rautenbach told Lowvelder.

This latest incident follows a recent call by the MEC for community safety, security and liaison, Jackie Macie, urging road users to remain vigilant at all times.

“Motorists must always be alert. Every driver must obey the rules and prioritise their own safety and that of other road users to prevent needless loss of life and life-changing injuries,” Macie said after another fatal accident in Mpumalanga over the weekend.
