Uthando oluKhanyile foundation restores leaners’ confidence by donating toiletries to less fortunate in Emalahleni

Uthando oluKhanyile foundation visits primary and high schools to donate toiletries to the less fortunate.

Uthando oluKhanyile Foundation was established in July 2020 by Hlengeleti Ngobe. Nogbe was later joined by Lungile Nhlapo and Valencia Sibanyoni to help learners get their dignity back through the initiative.

Ngobe said, “While I was doing grocery shopping one day, I was approached by a boy in his teens who had asked me if I could buy him some food to take home because they did not have anything to eat. He also asked for soap to use for bathing and for washing his clothes; that touched me and I was inspired to start collecting donations for children who are in need of basic toiletries.”

“I approached Lungile and Valencia with the idea and we decided to establish the foundation. We started to provide basic necessities such as soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, facecloths, sanitary pads, and lotion for children,” she said.

Ngobe said she has a strong background of giving and the fact that she is improving the lives of others, fills her heart with joy.

“We have donated to schools around our community in eMalahleni. We went to Duvha Primary School and Ilanga Secondary School, and asked for a list of children who are in need. We have visited each school twice on different occasions.”

“The foundation is pushing donations and in hope to get enough to donate before the end of the year. We can hopefully host a fundraising event to enable us to donate more than just toiletries, but also, blankets, clothes and uniforms. We’re also working on getting sponsorships from companies so we can achieve our goal of donating to more children and more schools,” she said.
