Mpumalanga shines in South African National Vaulting Championship

The two young stars who just started in this sport are already making waves in the national competition.

The Quest Vaulting Institute of Uplands and the Mpumalanga province were both strongly represented at the South African National Vaulting Championships.

Nobayeni Kutumela (7) and Salome Kutumela (6) both competed in the E-grade barrel and horse vaulting at the championship, held in Gauteng’s Kyalami Park from September 22 to 25.

The two athletes had participated in the qualifiers for the Vaulting Association of South Africa at the Uplands Equestrian Centre on August 7. They were selected to represent Mpumalanga.

During the national championships, the two were given an opportunity to shine. They wowed the judges and spectators with their gymnastic and balance skills, earning them spots in the top three.

They participated in both compulsory and free-style contests and were given bronze certifications for compulsory. Salome managed to place second after a solid performance, while Nobayeni went on to win the compulsory and freestyle.
