6 injured in accident on N4 near Emgwenya

A taxi driver and five occupants of a seven-seater multipurpose vehicle suffered minor to moderate injuries.

An accident involving a taxi and a multipurpose vehicle (MPV) took place on the N4 between the Malaga Hotel and the NAZASM tunnel today, December 19.

According to Martin Jeffrey of Emer-G-Med, six patients were treated for minor to moderate injuries on the scene.

“The patients were transported to Rob Ferreira Hospital by Emer-G-Med and other medical service providers for further treatment. One of the patients was the taxi driver, and five were occupants from the other vehicle.”


The taxi was on its way in eMalahleni’s direction and the MPV in Mbombela’s.

According to TRACN4, this section of the N4 in Elands Valley was partially closed, operating on a stop-and-go system, but has since been reopened. Motorists are advised to drive with caution.
