Galaxy versus Sundowns clash called off following deadly accident on N4

TS Galaxy has another important fixture, where they are scheduled to take on D'General FC in the Nedbank Cup round of 16 on Sunday March 17.

The much-anticipated DStv Premiership clash between TS Galaxy and Mamelodi Sundowns, which was scheduled for tonight, Wednesday, March 6, was postponed eight hours before the scheduled kick off.

The match was supposed to have taken place at Mbombela Stadium.

On Tuesday afternoon, while travelling to Mbombela, TS Galaxy’s bus was involved in a head-on accident on the N4 in Schoemanskloof, resulting in the death of the driver of a VW Polo.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) confirmed the postponement at about midday yesterday and said they will communicate the new match date in due course.

“The PSL hereby confirms the postponement of the DStv Premiership fixture between TS Galaxy FC and Mamelodi Sundowns, scheduled for Wednesday March 6 at Mbombela Stadium.

The decision has been made after consideration of the extraordinary circumstances following an accident involving the TS Galaxy FC team bus and another vehicle on Tuesday afternoon.

The PSL extends its understanding and support to TS Galaxy FC during this challenging period. We acknowledge the impact of this decision on all stakeholders and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Details regarding the rescheduled fixture will be communicated in due course,” read part of the PSL statement sent to this publication.

Team boss, Tim Sukazi, and said that none of his players had injured, but confirmed that they had suffered shock since they experienced this trauma.
Sukazi had earlier called for the postponement of this fixture.
