Cogta hosts meaningful summit for men in Mbombela
The summit aimed to address issues plaguing society as some men came together to promote positive change and gender equality.
The Mpumalanga Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) hosted a transformative Men’s Summit at Ndalo Lodge in Mbombela on August 30.
The aim of the event includes uniting dedicated male officials with the shared goal of addressing the pressing issues confronting the society. The summit served as an engaging platform for essential discussions, including an impactful session on gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF), underscoring the vital role men play in championing gender equality.
Experts provided practical financial management, empowering these men with the knowledge and skills needed to manage their finances with confidence.
The Mpumalanga Cogta spokesperson, Lindiwe Msibi, said: “The attendees were also enlightened on parenting and custody laws, which are crucial for navigating family dynamics effectively. Furthermore, experts provided practical financial management, empowering these men with the knowledge and skills needed to manage their finances with confidence.”

Msibi said a significant highlight of the summit was the ceremonial signing of a pledge by all attending men, symbolising their commitment to promoting positive change and accountability in their communities. This pledge reinforces the collective responsibility to create a culture of respect and support for gender equality.
