The businessman and philanthropist, Robert Gumede, who attended the proceedings, as an alumnus of the school, pledged to donate an additional R1m.

“I want to see the school get back to its A game of attracting the best learners and teachers. It must be a more scientific school, because science is what is going to shape the world. We are living in a digital age and we need to make sure that our children are exposed to coding from early stages.”

“I have given the school support in the past by providing computer labs, and I will continue to do the same, granted the staff takes care of these resources. They need computers and laptops, because education is no longer from 08:00 to 13:00. It is 24/7,” he said.
