Annual eMkhondo matric prayer session instils hope
The programme kicked off under the theme ‘An Appointment with Future Leaders’ at Siphokuhle Secondary and concluded at Cana Combined School two days later.
The eMkhondo Annual Matric Prayer Session is an initiative that offers support and inspiration to matric learners as they get ready to take their final exams.
The annual programme is meant to remind them of the community’s support during this crucial time, while instilling a feeling of purpose and confidence in them.
This year’s edition of the programme was launched at Siphokuhle Secondary on Tuesday, October 15. It concluded at Cana Combined School on Thursday, October 17.

Under the theme ‘An Appointment with Future Leaders’, the eMkhondo Local Municipality’s executive mayor, Cllr Ngelosi Ndlhovu, visited seven schools, including Vukubone Secondary, Esibusisweni Secondary, Nganana Secondary, Ndlela Secondary and Amadlelo Secondary.
While she was visiting Esibusiweni, the whip of council, Cllr Siduduzo Thwala, the MMC for technical services, Cllr Mary Thwala, the MMC for community services, Cllr Walter Vilakazi, Ap Sfiso Phakathi and Pr Sipho Nhleko accompanied her.

Ndhlovu gifted sanitary supplies and toiletries to the matrics, demonstrating a commitment to their well-being.
She took to social media to wish the matric learners luck as they began their exams on Monday, October 21.

“You have reached the final phase of your secondary education, and the conclusion is imminent. You have planned for this moment for the past 12 years. Do not let anything derail you now that you are so close. Stay calm and continue with your sights firmly fixed on your objectives, knowing that you have the support from your friends,” Ndhlovu said.
