Young innovator ready to serve Black Management Forum in Mpumalanga
The new chairperson of the Black Management Forum aims to develop local businesses and professionals in the province by advocating for transformation in the private and public sectors.
The newly elected chairperson of Mpumalanga’s Black Management Forum (BMF), Thulani Mlangeni, aims to take the lead in ensuring that black professionals, especially women and the youth, have access to leadership roles across various industries.
Mlangeni was elected at the forum’s AGM on September 28. He is employed at the Ehlanzeni District Municipality’s Department of Economic Planning and Development’s investments section and is a part-time lecturer at the Tshwane University of Technology’s Mbombela Campus. He recently finalised his studies for a master’s degree in finance.
Additionally, he serves on the boards of Black Management Forum Investments and Cable Tapes Africa, which allows him to stay engaged with business and governance efforts.
“I am committed to driving the BMF mission forward. Our focus is on creating an inclusive economy that reflects the demographics of our province by supporting black professionals and entrepreneurs through access to opportunities, funding and growth markets in sectors like agriculture, fintech and renewable energy,” he said.

Since the establishment of the forum in 1976, the fight for socio-economic transformation in South Africa, has been the cornerstone. It consists of two additional structures, the youth professionals and the students.
“From addressing the challenges faced by black professionals in corporate structures to its role in shaping affirmative action and BEE policies, the BMF remains dedicated to ensuring fairness, equity and inclusion for previously disadvantaged communities. We aim to develop local businesses and professionals in Mpumalanga by advocating for transformation in the private and public sectors. This includes partnering with local and national institutions to accelerate opportunities for skills development and business growth, especially in high-potential sectors. By working closely with government and the private sector, we will help create opportunities for black-owned businesses to thrive in previously restricted or underdeveloped industries, positioning Mpumalanga as a hub for economic growth.”
