Mpumalanga SAPS launches Operation Safer Festive Season
The launch included food parcel donations to those in need at Slindokuhle School for Special Needs.
The Mpumalanga police are determined to make the forthcoming festive season a safe one with the launch of the 2024/25 Operation Safer Festive Season in the Tonga Policing Precinct on Saturday October 20.
The operation will focus on intensifying efforts to combat gender-based violence, carjackings and house robberies, and collaborate with the border management authority and the Department of Home Affairs to tackle crimes such as human and drug trafficking.
Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi, the acting provincial police commissioner, emphasised the significance of preserving community safety and putting an end to criminal activity.
He also emphasised that law enforcement is prepared to combat robberies and cash-in-transit heists.

“This operation will concentrate on combating illicit activities, enforcing legislation on firearms and liquor, and securing critical infrastructure from potential threats,” he said.
Throughout the launch, the dedication to upholding law and order, protecting vulnerable populations and guaranteeing a safe holiday season for all locals was reaffirmed.
Among the distinguished dignitaries were the executive mayors of the Nkomazi Local Municipality and the Ehlanzeni District Municipality, Cllr Phindile Magagula and Cllr Terra Shabangu, and Jackie Macie, the MEC for community safety, security and liaison.
According to the police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, the day commenced with a heart-warming gesture of food parcels donated to those in need at Slindokuhle School for Special Needs.

“This exemplified the commitment to uplifting and supporting the community. Various sponsors joined hands in making this a charitable act of success,” said Mdhluli.
