Community members cherish Madiba Day in Ngodwana

Children were escorted by the SAPS on a walk.

In celebration of Nelson Mandela’s enduring legacy, a non-profit organisation commemorated his years of service by giving back to the community at the Elandshoek Community Hall on July 18.

The Outreaching Lives Foundation organised a walk that ended at the community hall. There they brought together learners of Entabamhlophe Combined School and Cyril Clark Secondary School, who were granted the opportunity to showcase their talents through acting, poetry, dancing and singing performances.

According to the Outreaching Lives’ founder, Susan Mbanzima, many community members also participated in activities, such as clean-ups and donations.

“We had the privilege to have the Ngodwana SAPS escort us on our walk. They highlighted the importance of the 67 minutes of community service, which symbolise Mandela’s 67-year fight for social justice,” Mbanzima said.
