Ehlanzeni District gives back to Thambokhulu Crèche for Mandela Month

The manager of the crèche, Ruth Metiso, said the gesture brought joy to them.

The Ehlanzeni District and the Nkomazi Local municipalities celebrated Mandela Day by spending time with the children of Thambokhulu Crèche on Friday, July 25.

The initiative was supported by local stakeholders who joined forces to make an impact. Their meaningful contributions included donating a JoJo Tank to ensure access to clean water, painting the walls and roof to create a safer and more welcoming environment, and handing out food parcels and cake.

The centre manager, Ruth Metiso, said many people had promised to assist the centre in the past, but they never followed through. She was happy to finally see people offering real support.

“I am speechless. We really appreciate the support. This will have a great impact on our crèche,” she said. According to the Ehlanzeni District mayor, Terra Shabangu, the municipality focused on deep rural areas to make an impact on the people who need it most.

“This heart-warming gesture embodies the spirit of Mandela Day, which encourages individuals and organisations to make a positive difference in their communities,” he said.
