Warriors mount epic comeback against Mphenyatsatsi Young Stars

Bokang Nonyane did what he is well known for: Scoring goals for his team.

Mandela Warriors FC locked horns with Mphenyatsatsi Young Stars at the Mphenyatsatsi Sports Field on Sunday, November 2. Neither team had a full complement of first-choice players for the game.

In the first half, Mandela Warriors FC took the lead in the 10th minute, but the hosts equalised in the 26th minute. The game went into half-time, tied at 1-1.

In the second half, Young Stars came back in high spirits. They took the lead through a set play and the Warriors’ young goalkeeper could only watch as the ball hit the net. The score stood at 2-1.

Young Stars quickly added a third goal, then scored their fourth in the 65th minute, bringing the score to 4-1.

Just when everyone thought the Warriors would throw in the towel, their ever-reliable striker, Bokang Nonyane, secured a goal. He went on to score the third and fourth goals to level playing field.

In extra time the Warriors took the lead in the first half, but the home team equalised quickly. Warriors had the final say and won 6-5.
