Young Generation U14 Tournament delivers red-hot action on the pitch in Shatale
The young players displayed great soccer skills as they battled it out on the field.
It was a thrilling competition when teams faced each other during the Young Generation U14 Tournament at Shatale Stadium on Saturday, November 8. This tournament was hosted by Black Pirates.
The teams that participated include the hosts, Mandela Warriors FC, Deco United, Relani Young Stars, Baeng, Maile United, Sediba sa Thuto and Hotbeans.

In the first match, Baeng locked horns with Maile United. Baeng took the lead in the first half, and the game went into half-time 1-0. Baeng scored three goals in the second half, leading their team to a 4-0 victory and securing a spot in the semi-finals.
In the second game, Mandela Warriors FC played against Deco United. The score was 2-0 in favour of Mandela Warriors at half-time. Deco United pulled one back in the second half, but Mandela Warriors FC scored three more goals to win 5-1 and guarantee their spot in the semis.

Relani Young Stars and Black Pirates clashed in the third match. The Black Pirates scored two quick goals in the first half and two in the second to gain their place in the semi-finals.
Sediba sa Thuto and Hotbeans played the final game and the match was marred by accusations of Sediba fielding over-age players.

According to Progress Mashego, Sediba claimed that all their players were U14, but it was evident that some were born between 2008 and 2009. Despite this, the game went ahead.
At half-time the score stood at 2-0 in favour of Sediba sa Thuto.
However, Hotbeans made changes that impacted the game positively and they levelled matters. The game ended 2-2 and penalties were taken to decide the winners.
Sediba sa Thuto won on penalties. In the semis, Black Pirates won against Baeng, while Mandela Warriors FC drew 1-1 against Sediba sa Thuto. Sediba sa Thuto left without taking the penalties and Mandela Warriors FC marched on to the finals.
Mashego said the finals could not be played due to a lack of floodlights at the stadium.
