KaNyamazane farmer reaps support from provincial government
A self-taught farmer is making magic after beginning his farming journey in 2014, learning through hours of tutorials on YouTube.
A recent three-day benchmarking visit to Mpumalanga by the Limpopo Provincial Legislature’s portfolio committee in agriculture saw them visiting Madeliefde Farm in Mara near KaNyamazane.
They visited a project run by Sbusiso Mogale, a self-taught farmer whose agricultural journey began not in a classroom, but through hours of learning on YouTube.
Mogale’s project is supported by the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Land and Environmental Affairs. The department’s provincial spokesperson, Zanele Shabangu, said the group encountered an extraordinary story of determination during this visit.

Despite living with a disability, Mogale has defied all odds by building a successful farming operation using Smart Agricultural Boxes, proving how technology and passion can transform lives.
Mogale was born with a condition that left him with underdeveloped upper limbs. Besides farming, he is also an actor.

Shabangu said the committee members agreed that what began as a benchmarking exercise became a powerful reminder of the human spirit, innovation, and the possibilities that agriculture holds.
