The Rise Mpumalanga Talent (RMT) acting training programme officially kicked off at Valencia Community Hall on Saturday, April 18. The day set the tone for what promises to be a transformative journey for aspiring actors.
The event brought together passionate individuals from different townships, all united by one goal: to learn, grow and pursue their dreams. From the moment the session began, the atmosphere was filled with excitement, creativity and determination.

Participants were introduced to the fundamentals of acting, including body language, voice projection, character development and stage presence.

A major highlight of the session was the presence of acclaimed South African actress Dawn Thandeka King, who was invited to share her knowledge and experience with the group.
Her session left a lasting impact, as she broke down what it truly means to be an actor. She emphasised that the most important thing in acting is being truthful and connecting with the character, rather than simply reciting lines.

She encouraged the participants to step out of their comfort zones, trust their abilities and embrace every opportunity.
Interactive exercises and group activities created a strong sense of unity, allowing attendees to support and learn from one another.

According to the CEO of RMT, Phindile Mashabane Sifunda, the event was not just a workshop, but a launchpad for dreams.
“It showed that talent exists within communities, and when given the right platform and guidance, it can flourish into something big,” she said.
