University of Mpumalanga hosts Hospitality and Culinary Nexus

The University of Mpumalanga (UMP) hosted the Hospitality and Culinary Nexus on Tuesday April 14, bringing together students, professionals and stakeholders in the hospitality and tourism industry together for insightful discussions, culinary demonstrations, and exposure to industry expectations and career paths.
The event facilitated meaningful interactions, showcasing the importance of integrating theoretical learning with practical experience and industry partnerships.

The head of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Prof July Sibanyoni, highlighted the significance of industry engagement, noting that the University of Mpumalanga integrates classroom learning with practical experience to ensure students gain a deeper understanding of the hospitality industry.

Speaking under the topic ‘International Work Opportunities in the Middle East, the J1 Hospitality in the United States and France’, Robyn Surgeson highlighted that international internships allow you to gain experience, earn, and grow your career across the world.

The deputy vice chancellor for teaching and learning, Prof Mashudu Davhana-Maselesele, emphasised the necessity for partnerships that ensure students are truly prepared for the opportunities ahead.
