From humble beginnings to award-winning success
Sibusiso Nzima also known as 'Minister Sbu' is stepping into a new season of his music career, collaboration, and national recognition.
Sibusiso Nzima, also known as ‘Minister Sbu’, is a celebrated South African gospel artist who is currently working on an EP, a musical collaboration with Joyous Celebration, and is a musical director for a newly established choir, Yethu Sonke Foundation United Voices.
Nzima said he started working on the EP recently and which will consist of six songs featuring Keke Phoofolo, Rofhiwa Manyanga, Chichi Egeolu, Debora ‘Deddie’ Ruiters and the NSO Frequency Band. The release date is yet to be announced.

Nzima will join the Joyous Celebration tour around the country while also preparing the Yethu Sonke Foundation United Voices for the highly-anticipated music show, Spirit of Praise All Stars taking place in Middelburg on May 16.
He said he is quite excited for these events as it highlights his musical journey.
Nzima began singing professionally in 2009, marking the start of a path that would shape his life and purpose. His first performance took place in church, a space that remains central to his identity as both a worshiper and a servant of God. This early foundation not only nurtured his vocal abilities but
also deepened his spiritual connection, which is evident in his music today.

In 2018, he officially launched his solo career, stepping into the spotlight with determination and a clear vision. That same year, he released his first single, titled “Qhubeka”, a deeply personal song that encourages listeners to keep moving forward despite life’s challenges. The song quickly resonated with many, as it carries a message of hope and resilience, reflecting real-life struggles and triumphs.
His musical journey continued to grow, leading to the release of his first album in 2022, Jesus Exalted. The project showcased his commitment to spreading messages of faith, encouragement, and positivity through gospel music.

Over the years, Nzima’s dedication has earned him recognition within the industry. He has won a total of four awards, two Mpumalanga Gospel Music Awards, a Crown Gospel Award, and an Ingoma Award.
He dedicated his ongoing motivation to the love and support he receives from his fans. Nzima said the love ignites his desire to keep creating and to give more of himself through music.
“The road is not easy. Teach yourselves to be patient. Never give up, because things don’t always go your way,” he said.
