Down with all women abusers

What surely stood out was the bravery of the victim, Ms Winnie Mpiyane, who was assaulted by her boyfriend just because he wanted to have sex with her.

Ms Cecilia Simelane from Nelspruit writes:

In your last edition, August 15, 2013, I was impressed by the lead story titled, “Mother-to-be is beaten up”.

What surely stood out was the bravery of the victim, Ms Winnie Mpiyane, who was assaulted by her boyfriend just because he wanted to have sex with her. There’s quite a lot of these cases occurring in our society, but women don’t talk about such issues.

Ms Mpiyane is a brave woman and deserves to be honoured for her courage and I also believe that she has opened a case against the boyfriend. My advice is, “Don’t turn around and cancel the case when you’ve reconciled with your boyfriend.”

That is where we women get it wrong.

I also appeal to all other women who live in such abusive relations, to come out and deal with these abusive males.

It is not all males who fall into this category, because there can be very sweet men who’ll never hurt a fly. The perpetrator in this case was so stupid to do this to Ms Mpiyane, during Women’s Month when women should be celebrated and while she was pregnant. He just saw an opportunity to undermine the dignity of women and turned her into a punching bag. Away with abusers, away!
