Local models perform well at Figures Nationals

Of all the provinces, Mpumalanga is one of the smallest. Each year Nelspruit models make it into the National finals.

NELSPRUIT – If birds of a feather flocked together, Casambo on the outskirts of town would be the place they went to settle. This weekend saw nationally renowned Figures Modeling agency host the National Model of the Year competition for the local talent which saw a large number of models qualify for the national finals to be hosted at Carnival City in Gauteng.

Despite Mpumalanga being one of the smaller provinces in the Figures Group, the local models out perform most of their “big city slicker” counterparts annually at these type of events – jestfully attributed to the Lowveld weather.

Event coordinators and modelling coaches, Candice and Mark Pattinson, proved that hard work and diligence always reap rewards as a number of their students qualified for the national finals on Sunday afternoon. For the past three years, Nelspruit has produced national winners such as Shannon Todd who are then given the chance of a lifetime as they are flown to New York in the United States to compete at the International Modelling Talent Association (IMTA) show.

The top scorers of the weekend’s event will travel to Carnival City later this year where they stand the chance to win R10 000 in cash along with the IMTA entry to the value of R40 000. A total of 45 local models made the cut this year.

“We are very proud of our students who worked so hard through the year and showed us their dedication, well done guys and girls you have made not only your families, but everyone very proud.”
