Christmas comes early for Mbombela

MBOMBELA – Business mogul and billionaire, Mr Patrice Motsepe, together with the Mbombela Local Municipality will once again join forces and bring smiles to more than a 1 000 local children.

Every year, through the Motsepe Foundation, the Mamelodi Sundowns boss donates toys and Christmas gifts to millions of children throughout the country including this province and this year will be no different.

“We have a very smooth relationship with the Motsepe Foundation and because we share the same vision when it comes to addressing issues of poverty, they chose to work with this municipality to help reach out to children in need.

We are happy that they are coming back and this time they have doubled their efforts as they have added a number of activities to the programme,” said the executive mayor,

Cllr Cathy Dlamini, who during the toys handover, personally drives around to spend some time with the children.

This initiative include charity activities, a fun walk and a free music concert which will feature some of the country’s finest musicians such as Zahara, Mafikizolo, Uhuru, Micasa, DJs Cleo, Madumane and many more.

“We value their contribution and we are thankful for what they are doing for our children. There are many other local business people who are doing the same thing for our people and as a municipality we would also like to applaud them and encourage them to continue touching and changing lives the way they do,” continued Dlamini.

Festivities begin tomorrow with the distribution of toys in areas within the jurisdiction of Mbombela, followed by a walk in support of the 16 Days of Activism Against Women and Child Abuse also to be attended by Dlamini and Motsepe himself.

Then on Saturday, the Nelspruit Rugby Stadium will play host to the free music concert featuring the above-mentioned artists and many more.
