Comedy show leaves audience in stitches

Emnotweni Area was filled with laughs on December 14 thanks to the silver tongues of Durban comedians.

NELSPRUIT – Dingalings Production’s comedy show Boolulu Uncle was a great success. It was held at the new Emnotweni Arena on December 14.

The show kicked off with stand-up by Koobeshen Naidoo, a popular Durban comedian who is known for his boyish good looks and for pushing the boundaries of adult comedy.

Naidoo did a spin-off of a conspiracy theory about wives teaching their daughters how to make men feel guilty. “That’s what they do when they all go to the bathroom together, they’re learning how to nail men”.

“I always found fishing boring, but then I got married and I realised why other men did it; it’s a great way to escape the wife’s nagging.”

He also added that this is why young girls get pots and pans from a young age, as the way to a man’s heart was through his stomach. “It is a conspiracy, they already know from a young age to look at us with big eyes to get their way.”

Boolulu Uncle, featuring Senzo Mthethwa had taken the Durban comedy circuit by storm. Now it was Nelspruit’s turn to see what all the fuss was about.

The show did not dissappoint as the sound of laughter filled the arena.

The play was about the story of Mthethwa, a young Zulu boy who grew up in the Indian home of the Chettys in Reservoir Hills. It has been nominated for five theatre awards and won the Best Play Award at the Musho Festival, as well as Best One Man Show, Best Newcomer and Best Script. Since its launch it has received outstanding reviews throughout KwaZulu-Natal.

The Dingalings Production Company is a household name in KZN, renowned for off-the-wall, zany comedy which touches on familiar subjects like wives, mothers-in-law, marriage and relationships. The group has performed at venues around the country including other Tsogo Sun casinos such as Blackrock Casino in Newcastle and Golden Horse Casino in Pietermaritzburg.
