OUR VIEW

The past week has been a very hectic one, politically speaking as the entire ANC leadership converged on these shores to celebrate their 102nd birthday and also to launch their election manifesto that will guide them in their governance of the country for the next five years, that is, if they win the general elections this year.

What we saw during the entire week, is loyalty of the people unto the ANC, as they responded positively during the interactions that they had with the different communities that they visited throughout the country.

What is of paramount importance here is, the manifesto that was launched should be kept to the book as people have had enough of being fooled by politicians who promise them heaven and earth if and when they want to be re-elected into positions.

Granted, much has changed in people’s living standards in many quarters, although there are numerous others that still live in abject poverty after 20 years of democratic rule with the ANC at the helm.

Things need to change for the better and we would also appreciate it if other organisations could follow suit and produce their own manifestos instead of always criticising the ANC, and in the eventuality thereof, they are promoting the ANC than themselves.

Admittedly, there have been a lot of wrongs that occurred along the way, but some things have been corrected as the criticisms poured in and cover-ups and backing each other have been the order of the day.

The multitudes of ANC supporters that converged at Mbombela over the past weekend really sends a message to other organisations that they should really do their own homework if they really want to beat the ANC in the forthcoming elections.

The numbers speak for themselves, although it is not all members that attended the weekend’s rally, but only a fraction. You can imagine how many members the opposition can come up with if and when they hold similar rallies.

If they have a story to tell, like the ANC has begun telling its own, which spans over 102 years of existence, then they can match them pound for pound.

The electorate is waiting in the wings for an organisation that can better the offer that the ANC has presented. The ball is in their court, only time will tell.
