Rise fm rises from Mpower ashes

The launch of the station is spearheaded by TMG Head of Radio, Tony Mallam.

“We are rising from the ashes and coming alive again.”These were the words of Times Media Group (TMG), Tony Mallam when he announced the launch of its Mpumalanga-based radio station, Rise FM.

He also announced that the station will reposition the station formally known as Mpower FM, to better appeal to the vibrant and aspirational audience within the province.

The station will not only be boasting a new-look and feel, but as from Monday, March 3, Rise FM will showcase a fresh new line-up consisting of some of SA’s young up-and-coming broadcast talent. Targeted ages are 25-49. Rise FM will play a mixed blend of local and international songs with an urban flavour.

The launch of the station is spearheaded by TMG Head of Radio, Tony Mallam who said: “Rise FM will produce shows and content that will be directly aligned with its listeners. As the only commercial radio station in Mpumalanga, it is a valuable asset and it is important for us to deliver content that is reflective of our listeners’ interests.”

He added that the positioning of the station is part of TMG’s strategy to consolidate their strong media influence and aggressively extend their footprint in the broadcast market.

“This puts us in a strong position to provide advertisers with a 360 degree solution for their clients. It is reflective of our future path to pursue opportunities across multiple media platforms that integrate our assets which now includes print, TV, online and digital,” says Trevor Ormerod, Group Sales Director, Times Media.
