Group releases new album
The CD is now available in JS stores as well as at Music Warehouse.
A heart-soothing and soul-reviving CD by Matsulu-based songsters, Mothers of the Cross, has been released, eight years after their last one in 2006.
The CD titled Linamadl’igazi, meaning the blood is powerful, is their fourth album and has been on the shelves since February.
It consists of 10 praise and worship songs, all in siSwati with track four, “Uthando lwakhe” as its hit song.
Dudu Matimela explained that the new CD aimed to give praise to the wonderful works and the love of God Almighty which He showed by saving the lives of family members during a terrible accident in 2009 on their way back from a concert in Witbank.
“Our car was badly damaged and we were all injured, however, none of us died or became crippled. We are still able to do the work of God and we thank Him for that,” they said.
The members are all related and devoted members of the United Christian Mission Church in Matsulu founded by their grandfather and -mother, the late Bishop Mhlongo and gogo Matimela. They started singing in 2003 and released their first album, Bomama khulekani, followed by Phezu kwa lelidwala in 2005 and Usiholile in 2006. They had preached the word of God through music as far as Richards Bay and Cape Town and even across the borders in various parts of the Swazi kingdom.
They also preach unity and acceptance of foreign nationals as creatures of one Creator of the universe.
This is also evident from their dress style. “We get ideas from different cultures at home and abroad to spice up our appearance,” they say.
The CD is now available in JS stores as well as at Music Warehouse.
