A number of gospel artists and groups from within the Nkomazi subregion received overwhelming exposure following their participation in the Praise and Worship Unplugged concert on Saturday.
Organised by the House of Prayer Ministries based in Malalane, this annual rendition endorsed by DStv’s hit gospel channel, One Gospel, has opened doors for many local artists who were previously disadvantaged and had no platform to showcase their talent.
Speaking to Mpumalanga News, Vusi Khoza, founder and pastor of House of Prayer Ministries, said this show has helped unleash local talent and that many local artists would benefit from it. “Praise and Worship Unplugged is about creating opportunities for local praise and worship leaders to grow.
“Our region has a lot to offer the world. Many of the unrecognised musicians we meet can with little support become international worship leaders. “I believe our collaboration with One Gospel in this regard is an important first step,” said Khoza.
“These are rare opportunities, and I am glad to see the interest shown by local people. This has also served as an eye-opener for local artists and I am certain that their lives will never be the same again.” He said One Gospel has played a pivotal role in ensuring that local artists get exposure and share their talent with the world.
“The main aim of this event was to give worship teams in the vicinity the exposure to showcase their abilities all the way through. We are involved with all the racial groups and we acknowledge that it unites the people as they worship and fellowship together.
We have done it before and this time we got One Gospel involved, which has made this event a spectacle. We are already planning for next year’s show and we believe it is going to be bigger and better,” continued Khoza.
The pastor went on to emphasise that this was aimed at scouting for groups that are not signed anywhere. “We want to work with artists that have not yet been discovered and put them out there. They will be signed up and have access to royalties as their music will most definitely get airtime and exposure on television.”
Those who participated in this program said it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity they had been waiting for. Some of the groups and individuals who performed on the day, will be given record deals and One Gospel will help promote their music by giving them airplay.
One Gospel is on DStv channel 331.
