The true virtue of Godly women

The month to celebrate the strength, uniqueness and virtue of women is here, and it promises to be an awesome one.

We sat down with gospel sensation, Pretty Mhlongo, to talk to her about what it means to be a woman in the 21st century.

This phenomenal woman is more than just a pretty face, she is a wife, mother of three children, a worshipper, presenter for Bridal Worship, and has a day job.

How do you juggle so many balls at once?

“When I’m at work, I’m an employee. I have a boss to which I report. But when I get home, I get to be a totally different person. I am a mother and a wife. I cook for my husband and children, and I honour, respect and cherish my husband.

Being a wife in this century is different from the past, but one thing remains, a husband is to be respected and children are to be loved and taken care of.”

What is your take on the women who are mothers and fathers?

“Single mothers are the best, they are strong and they work hard to get what they want. I was once a single mother myself, I know exactly how it feels to work odd hours, just so you can get it all together. God has given women the ability to multitask, we are special to the Creator.”

You are recording your live DVD soon. How are the preparations going?

“The recording will take place on August 29, we are ready for the day. We initially wanted to do it earlier this year, but we then decided to shift it to the month when women are celebrated, for the significance. It is indeed the day that has been made by the Lord, and we are going to celebrate in his presence. We are ready!”

How do you manage to stay beautiful as a woman?

“I serve the most high God, he is a beautiful God who takes care of me. I believe when I stand before people and talk about him, my image must do all the talking, even before I open my mouth to speak. Cleanliness is next to Godliness, I’m a firm believer of that.

A woman should be clean, neat, and presentable at all times. These are the little things that set us apart.”

Do you feel celebrated in Mbombela?

“Wow! Mbombela loves me, oh my God! The love I get from the people here is amazing. I love them back twice as much. I go to people and greet them, and they become so surprised, but I just love the interaction I have with them. Their love just keeps me going. I’m a people’s person.”

What should we expect at the live recording?

“I pray earnestly for the move of God to be prevalent, it is not about me. I want the people who come with heavy burdens, problems from home, or whatsoever, to get out of the place relieved.

They should feel that my God is indeed a lifter of heavy burdens. I don’t want this recording and their attendance to be in vain, I’m anticipating the Holy Spirit to take over the whole project.”

Do you think it’s important for women to have a close relationship with God?

“Every woman should be fully dependent upon the Lord, he is our strength. As women we have so much responsibility, if one is far from God’s presence it gets really hard and sometimes impossible to do other things.

God is our helper. With him we become wise women who build their houses according to the book of proverbs.”

What is your message to fellow women during their month?

“Keep on going, no matter what comes and no matter what goes. You were made a woman for a number of reasons, one of them is that you are strong. Challenges are there to make us even stronger and give us a testimony. Don’t let them keep you down.”

Pretty’s recording will be at Church on the Hill on August 29, tickets are available from R120 to R250 at Computicket. Festivities start at 18:00. Book your seat now.
