Through the grapevine

What is it with people moaning and criticising events mara? We're heading towards the festive season, but some of y'all are just way too grumpy. Let us address this Mpumalanga Cultural Xperience that will take place next weekend.

Is it really worth bashing something that’s already been confirmed? What we would like to know is, would those so-called artists rant and rave about the line-up if they had been booked? And oh, don’t you think we’ve had enough of seeing the same local faces on posters?

Not so long ago people were complaining about Princess Indlovukazi getting gigs, but did it affect the price of rice? No, she’s flourishing and making it happen for herself out there with the likes of abo Heavy K. Shine wena girl!

If you’re bitter, it would be advisable to not attend the event at all, because next thing you will be hurling insults that will be seconded by your frenemies. We won’t sympathise with you ke. All we will ask is, “Yena Aya Kwini?” Can we be entertained in peace please?

By the way, we are just wondering if our local DJs have now mastered the art of spinning the decks like Trevor Dee and the sizzling hot DJ Zoe. Phela, it is pointless booking someone who has a playlist of tracks but ama-techniques dololo! We would rather stay home and tune into Metro FM or listen to Sweetmike doing his thing.

May the force be with you!
