Nkangala school team wins provincial finals and will represent the province in Durban

The newly crowned champions had to dig deep for their ticket to Durban after a tough encounter against Tikhontelele Secondary School which ended with 0-0.

Chief Jerry Nkosi Secondary School are the new provincial champions for the COPA Coca-Cola that took place at KaMhlushwa Stadium.
The newly crowned champions had to dig deep for their ticket to Durban after a tough encounter against Tikhontelele Secondary School which ended with 0-0. With four schools vying for the ticket to the national finals, it was a round-robin format that was used to determine who would be crowned champions and subsequently represent the province in Durban between September 18 and 21.

Chief Jerry Nkosi’s opening fixture was a tough match against Soshangane Secondary School which with a narrow win of 2-1. Their next assignment was Zacheus Secondary School and secured another two goals to one.
Needing just a draw to finish top of the group, Chief Jerry Nkosi held off a resilient Tikhontelele Secondary School to finish the game at 0-0 which was just enough to see them through and be crowned Mpumalanga champions.
Congratulating the champions, ambassador, Lucky Lekgwathi wished the school the best of luck in Durban and applauded the team’s talent.


“This was a wonderful weekend of football from these talented players. Outside of the wonderful display of football, the community of KaMhlushwa came out in their numbers to support this wonderful initiative. While winning was at the top of their minds, the boys displayed good characteristics of sportsmanship and fair play,” said Lekgwathi.
