Wounded suspect’s blood trail leads to dead-end in Pretoria farm attack

A trail of blood left by an alleged attacker, after he was wounded by a man murdered at a smallholding early this morning, led “nowhere”.

This was according to the community members, GAC Risk Solutions security officers and authorities who followed the trail.

“We traced the trail through the house, outside into the veld until about Piet-my-vrou Street where we lost the tracks,” said resident Wayne Alberts.

Alberts was among the group of people searching the area for the wounded suspect.

“It seems to be the same group of suspects that targeted Honingnestkrans, Haakdoornboom and Bon Accord in June.”

The drama started when Marius Pretorius, a neighbour from across the street, heard dogs barking “frantically” this morning at around 01:30.

“I then heard my neighbour [Lucy Lottering] shouting, ‘help, help, he is dead, my son is dead’,” Pretorius said.

His neighbour, an elderly woman, told Pretorius that three armed men entered the house and dragged her out of her room into the hallway before hitting and kicking her.

Pretorius further said it would appear that her son, Roelf Lottering (52), wounded one of their attackers.

Lottering’s sister, Teresa told Rekord on Thursday afternoon that her mother was still very emotional.

“She is currently at my brother’s house with his children to help take her mind off things. It’s very difficult for her, I fear she may mourn herself to death.”

Lottering was one of three siblings and worked as a testing officer at Dekra Automotive.
