Covid-19: Mpumalanga has 260 deaths and 2 371 active cases as of August 22
South Africa has recorded 607 045 confirmed infections, according to an announcement by the minister of health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, on Sunday August 22. A total of 22 885 of those cases have been reported in Mpumalanga.

The number of positive cases in the province can be broken down as follows:

Ehlanzeni District
- Bushbuckridge: 640 cases, 561 recoveries and five deaths
- City of Mbombela: 3 732 cases, 3 203 recoveries and 24 deaths
- Nkomazi: 1 742 cases, 1 523 recoveries and four deaths
- Thaba Chweu: 327 cases, 284 recoveries and one death.
Gert Sibande District
- Chief Albert Luthuli: 616 cases, 555 recoveries and five deaths
- Dipaliseng: 318 cases and 295 recoveries
- Dr Pixely Ka Isaka Seme: 795 cases, 719 recoveries and 11 deaths
- Govan Mbeki: 3 164 cases, 2 824 recoveries and 24 deaths
- Lekwa: 987 cases, 885 recoveries and 43 deaths
- Mkhondo: 455 cases, 369 recoveries and 21 deaths
- Msukaligwa: 1 321 cases, 1 156 recoveries and 35 deaths.
Nkangala District
- Dr JS Moroka: 332 cases, 309 recoveries and four deaths
- eMakhazeni: 337 cases, 283 recoveries and 10 deaths
- eMalahleni: 4 884 cases, 4 418 recoveries and 30 deaths
- Steve Tshwete: 2 216 cases, 1 918 recoveries and 19 deaths
- Thembisile Hani: 586 cases, 543 recoveries and 20 deaths
- Victor Khanye: 433 cases, 409 recoveries and four deaths.
